Supper Club Info and Rules

After reading Jen Hatmaker's book, For the Love, I decided to take a cue from Jen and start a monthly Supper Club with a couple of my friends and their husbands. We have 3 couples, so it rotates accordingly. So I cook a delicious and elegant meal for 6 people every couple of months. When it's our night to host, we put our 3 year old to bed a bit earlier so it is kid-free when the other two couples arrive. When we go to the other couples' house, we get a sitter to watch our kiddo...and we actually rotate two sitters so it's great for them, too!

Here are Jen's rules to Supper Club (with a few adaptations):
  • One night a month, rotating houses.
  • No kids. (Supper Club starts at 7:30pm and the host's kids are already in bed. The other parents get sitters.)
  • When you host, do everything: plan, shop, cook, and clean. So two out of three months, just show up, drink, eat, and laugh till you cry and leave your friend's kitchen an absolute crime scene.
  • The food is serious. If you haven't started planning your menu a week in advance, you are in the weeds. Don't you date put taco soup on the table. (Granted we did have a little break in this rule...over the summer the men had a "smoking" challenge and each man had to smoke a meat, and the wives made the accompaniment...more on that later!)
  • All anyone can bring to SC is wine. And you'd better bring some or die trying.
  • SC is any night we can make it work.
  • What happens at SC stays at SC. Failure to comply will result in flogging.
Throughout this page you will find the menu and recipes for Supper Club when I host. Hope you enjoy and can make a few of these recipes for friends and maybe start your own Supper Club!

*Note: When cooking for a crowd I usually don't cook all organic ingredients and sometimes not that healthy. Reason being is it gets a bit expensive cooking large-scale meals for a lot of people when trying to buy grass-fed meat, all organic, non-GMO, etc. So this is the one time that I will not follow my own rules. I will also make desserts that are not totally healthy for SC, but every once in a while it's ok, in my book ;) As long as I am eating clean and healthy and organic and GMO-free majority of the time, I'm good! :)
